Curbside Refuse Collection

The City only accepts general household refuse in plastic and Kraft paper bags. Plastic bags must be a 30-gallon capacity or less, a minimum of 0.7 millimeter thickness and be securely closed at the top. View refuse guidelines.
 
The following materials are accepted on your regularly scheduled collection day:

  2. Commercial Materials
  3. General Household Items
  4. Outdoor Material

Auto Parts

Category Pick-Up Regulations
Car doors, trunk lids, hoods, fenders, and small engine parts
These items are picked up in the same manner as hard goods and large appliances. They will be picked up later during your scheduled pick-up day.
Engine blocks, frames, and other bulky over-sized and/or heavy items
These items require a special pick-up service.
Tires, batteries, and propane tanks
To comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, these items are not accepted by the City. They should be taken to a local retail outlet for proper disposal.
Used Motor Oil
The Public Works Department no longer accepts used motor oil. Please contact the department at 847-963-0500 to find a location that does accept used motor oil.
