The Human Resources Department plays an integral role in the City of Rolling Meadows's strategic planning, benefit administration & maintenance, and policy development initiatives. Human Resources is part of the City Manager’s Office and responsibilities include the following:
- Developing, educating, and influencing department heads and supervisors of all levels in the management of human resources.
- Advising first line supervisors by gathering facts, diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and offering objective assistance and guidance on employee-related problems.
- Providing procedures to follow for dealing with employee grievances, counseling employees on performance issues, and/or handling discipline.
- Assisting department heads in negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements with employees represented by labor unions.
- Staying current on federal and state legislation affecting public employment.
- Guaranteeing all employees and applicants equal treatment and opportunities under the law.
- Maintaining all personnel files.
- Educating and maintaining all benefits for the employees (ie. health insurance, workers compensation, life insurance, sick, vacation, etc.).
