National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event meant to improve Police-Community relations. The event is held on the first Tuesday in August throughout the United States. The event is coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch. National Night Out started in 1983 and has grown annually. Rolling Meadows first participated in NNO 2013 and has participated every year since.
The Rolling Meadows Police Department in coordination with the Rolling Meadows Park District, and the Rolling Meadows Fire Department holds this event at the Community Center located at 3705 Pheasant Dr. As a matter of fact, in 2017 the Rolling Meadows Park District was dedicated with a National Night Out sign by Chief Nowacki and Mayor Len Prejna as the dedicated site for National Night Out.
The Rolling Meadows Police Department always strives to improve upon the previous year’s events by adding activities that highlight community involvement as well as promote a public safety message.
Some of the activities that are held during National Night Out include the following, and we try to change things every year:
- Fireworks
- DJ and Music
- Dance the Night Away
- Local Community Sponsorship Groups
- Free Food Snacks & Fun for all while supplies last
