Program Goals

Land use and development in the City is regulated by the Zoning Code and Subdivision Regulations. 

The City encourages investment and development in its housing, commercial, and manufacturing districts. We strive towards creating an environment where developers at all scales can work efficiently and quickly, while also meeting the City’s zoning, environmental, and building code regulations.

This is not an exhaustive list. There can be many other considerations when planning a new development. The requirements and regulations will depend on the complexity, scope, and scale of the development. We aim to maintain strong communication with developers to help them navigate the various requirements and reach positive outcomes for developers, residents, local businesses, and the City at large.

Public Hearings

A review and approval process is necessary to address the various development proposals or variance requests. Public hearings afford members of the community an opportunity to have input into the decision making process. The Planning and Zoning Commission is the body that conducts public hearings and renders a recommendation or decision on requests.
