Illinois Route 53 Improvements

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is set to begin a significant bridge improvement project along Route 53, stretching from Algonquin Road to Euclid Road, starting in March 2025. The project is expected to last through October 2026.

This extensive work will result in multiple lane closures and traffic pattern changes throughout the project area. The improvements aim to improve the bridge structures through the corridor, though they may create temporary disruptions for motorists and residents. The City has also taken advantage of the opportunity to have aesthetic improvements completed on the Euclid, Industrial, and Algonquin bridges.
